Introduction: Klaas Eveleens
Born in Aalsmeer, The Netherlands, where I found my way in the flowerbusiness like many others. Now working as an exporter of cutflowers that I sell all over the world. The last few years that is done mostly in countries in the former East European region, like Russia, Serbia, Romania and so on.
As a child I was connected with the Shetlander pony via our new neighbours, the family Jongkind with their stable Stal Aalsmeer. A lot of what I know has been told to me by mister Jongkind senior, who teached me everything there is to know about Shetland ponies!
Bobinette van Aalsmeer was the first Shetland pony that I had in 1966. She was a birthday gift at my 11th birthday. A multi coloured daughter of stallion Jaap van het Meer. And she actually became the kick off of Stal de Hornmeer. I had to move to another home when Aalsmeer was expanded with a large housing area which left no green room for me and my plans. I ended up beside the river the Amstel and that ment a change of name to Stal Amstelhof...

In the end we moved even further, to Kwadijk in the year 1990, not only because we needed the space but also because we wanted to expand our Shetland pony hobby. We didn't think that it would be wise to change names again so we didn't, and apart from that, we might move again in the future so we decided to stick to this name.
Through the years I always strived to keep my own path by doing precise selections and buying great stallions also ofcourse. I think that I did a good job on that and it increased my interest in other things, like judging at shows and looking into policies. With that I got involved as a provincial committee member and as a representative for the North Holland province in the General NSPS committee.
My daughters got really excited about Shetland ponies since they were little and that also made my hobby as well as the breeding stable more important through the years.
